In
Preparation for Athens 2004 Olympics Lebanon renew its victory
over Qatar
The Lebanese
Olympic Team renewed its victory over Qatar in conclusion of its
training camp in Doha (1-0) after beating the Qatari Team (2-0)
the first match.
The match took place on Al Wakra Club stadium,
and both team changed their tactics, one wanted to keep the
advantage and the other seeking the revenge. Richard Tardy made
radical changes in the team’s composition; Georges Sadek for the
goalkeeping and Adham Ghadar and Abbas Kenaan instead of
Mohammad Santina and Paul Rustom and Hassan Mezher, afterwards,
he reentered Mohamed Ghadar and Ali Atat and Mohamad Chahrour
after he was reassured about their position in the match. As for
Qatar they entered some of their best players such as Walid
Muhieddine and Haroun Jameh.
The match is classified within the preparation of both teams for
Asia Qualifications to Athens 2004.
Abbas Atwi scored the first goal of the match at the 29th
minute. The match was of a medium level with advantage to the
Lebanese Team who imposed its rhythm especially during the first
half , where he scored the only goal of the match and they
wasted a lot of opportunities that could have doubled the score
expect the hastening of some of the offense players.
The Lebanese players were clearly stronger than the Qatari team,
physically and technically.
The Qatari team performance improved in the second half using
the backing of the Lebanese to the defense line to preserve
their win.
Both coaches tried to give the chance to the biggest number of
substitute players to test the technical level in order to
better prepare for the qualifications of Athens.
