New Executive Committee combining new and previous members Nejmeh club avoids a rough battle The majority for Baha’a Eddine Hariri, Assaad instead of Baroudi at the Last minute

Under the motto “ to the victory of Nejmeh Club” the General Assembly succeeded in overcoming the crisis that nearly stoke the club and threatened to drag everyone to a bone breaking battle caused by the tension that has dominated the preparation and the negotiations to reach a unified list.

These negotiations which lasted till early morning to the election day has led to an agreement on one list in which figured 5 candidates from Riad Al Saad List who together with Fouad Bou Rachi, Ahmad Fleifel, Salah Ousairan and Bilal Al Danna in addition to Baha Eddine Rafik Hariri’s list in its entity forms now the new executive committee of Nejmeh Club.

It seems the former president who supported the list of Riad Assad has finally agreed to the proposition of Hariri’s son, which is to accept a list that includes new faces representing the majority in addition to some names from the previous executive committee as well as other persons from former committees.

It seems also that some of the names from both lists have been proposed before the agreement such as Mansour , Itani, Sinno and chaker. However, and in order to avoid a battle that nobody knows its outcome the parties in concern reached and agreement on one list compose of: Fouad Bourachi, Ahmad Fleifel , Mohammad Chaker, Salah Ousairan, Mohammad Fanj, Zouhair Khatib, Mounir Tabbara , Saad Eddine Itani, Abed El Hafiz Mansour , Fouad Sinno, Ahmad Nahal, Bilal El Dana, Maher El Merabi, Mohamad Khaled and Zouhair Baroudy but the latter withdrew in favor of Riad El Asaad who is considered to have break in the list, outside the names that has been agreed upon.    

Anyhow, the majority of the executive committee has become from the list proposed by Hariri’s and will have the upper hand in deciding the distribution of the positions within the committee.

The General Assembly was held on Sunday at 11:00 at Jamal Abdel Nasser Hall at the Arab University of Beirut in presence of two representatives from the Ministry of Youth & sports Ali Khalil and Mostafa Baghdadi.

This happy ending of the elections was unexpected since all the indicators, before the elections, led to believe that a battle was unavoidable, some compared the atmosphere of the elections to the parliamentary elections. The secretary general Zohair Baroudy detonated the surprised-bomb by his sudden withdraws in favor of Riad El Asaad and save the club from going into an electoral conflict. The resigned president of the club Omar Ghandour announced the winning list.

The General Assembly inaugurated its session by the national anthem and then reading the financial & administrative report on which some members had objections but they were approved unanimously especially the financial report …

The General Assembly witnessed some objections on the performance of the previous management especially from Riad Asaad who pointed out the secret deals and confirming that he is not the candidate of Walid Ben Talal, but the club’s candidate that represents the national unity among all its fans. However, the biggest surprise came from Baroudy who presided the general Assembly, he improvised a word stating his history with the club and saying that "we are only proud of one honorary president who is Omar Ghandour” then he announced his withdraw.

The number of candidates reached 34, 18 of them withdrew their candidacy but Asaad persisted on his candidature along with the list composed of 15 members:  Fouad Bouarchi, Ahmad Fleifel , Mohammad Chaker, Salah Ousairan, Mohammad Fanj, Zouhair Khatib, Mounir Tabbara, Saad Eddine Itani, Abed El Hafiz Mansour, Fouad Sinno, Ahmad Nahal, Bilal El Dana, Maher El Meraabi, Mohamad Khaled.
