9, 2001
LFA committee held its weekly meeting at
its headquarters in Verdun, and stopped on the actions taking
place inside and outside Beirut Sports City stadium during the
match between Nejmeh Club & Palestine National team, and
subsequent damages.
LFA committee felt sorry for the consequences during a friendly
mach whose aim was to support the Palestinian Intifadah that
turned out later to an abuse of the sports facilities, public
properties, and damages to Lebanon's Football reputation.
LFA committee found itself obliged not to allow the 2nd. match
between Tadamoun Sour, Lebanon Cup Holder, and the Palestinian
national team on Wednesday to take place.
At the same time, a delegation of the Palestinian Federation
visited the LFA last Monday, and praised the LFA decisions to
donate its share of the match to support the Intifadah, and
rejected the misbehavior of the fans during last Sunday's match.
Meanwhile, LFA president Hashem Haidar, and general secretary
Baheej Abou Hamzeh left to Malaysia on Monday night to
participate in the meetings of the Asian Football Confederation,
and to contact other members of the Asian national federations
within LFA policy to cooperate with the national federations for
