LFA general assembly approved most of the committee's propositions October 21, 2001

LFA general assembly took place on October 21, 2001 at Marriott Hotel, Beirut with the attendance of 108 clubs out of 146.

secretary Baheej Abou Hamzeh read the LFA regulations items related to the assembly.

Just before the beginning of the voting process, the representative of Al-Liwaa Tripoli Club Hassan Khayyal objected on the legitimacy of this assembly due to the lack of submitting the propositions to the clubs at least 15 days before the assembly date, and suggested canceling this assembly, or only voting on the general pardon. After short discussions with the representative of the Sports & Youth ministry, Al-Liwaa representative withdrew from the assembly.

The voting process started with the LFA committee announcing its propositions, and the assembly voting on each item separately. All of the proposed items were approved except for the item related to relegation of 3 teams to the second division, and the promotion of 1 team to the first division at the end of the 2001/2002 season. This item, which was supported by all the first division teams except for Al-Ansar, was rejected by a 55 votes against it. In return, LFA committee announced a new proposal to relegate 4 teams to the second division, and promote 2 teams at the end of the 2001/2002 season. This new item was approved by 75 votes majority.

The new approved modifications are as follow:

1. Accepting the applications of all players over the year up to 10 days period before the start of the championship or the cup, separate procedure for other competitions will be determined by the LFA committee.
Meanwhile, it will be allowed to accept the applications up to 72 hrs. deadline before the start of the championship, or the cup in by paying a specific fee to be determined by The committee.

2. On an exclusive basis for the 2001/2002 season, and based on the result of the First division championship, the 4 last clubs of the final standings of the championship relegate to the second division. This item will be cancelled automatically after the end of the 2001/2002 season.

3. On an exclusive basis for the 2001/2002 season, and based on the result of the Second division championship, The First 2 clubs of get promoted automatically to the First division, and the last 2 clubs relegate automatically to the Third division.

4. On an exclusive basis for the 2001/2002 season, the number of Football associations will be determined as follows:
- First Division associations: 14
- Second Division associations: 12
- Third Division associations: 16
- Fourth Division associations: undefined
This item will be cancelled automatically after the end of the 2001/2002 season.

5. For the purpose of establishing a new period in the Lebanese Football, setting a general pardon on all players, & club officials.
LFA committee aims to assures its willingness to implement the applied rules & regulations, and request all clubs and associations members of LFA to abide by these regulations.
