29, 2001
Ikhaa Ahley Aley advanced to the final
rounds of Viceroy Cup after defeating Ahley Saida [2-1] in the
match that took place on Monday October 29, 2001 2:00 p.m., at
Safa stadium. Ikhaa started the match with familiar faces of the
last season strengthened by the coming of goal keeper Hassan
Moussa, Iraqi defender Hamzah Hadi, & former Salam Zgharta
Armenian attacker Artash Adamian. Ikhaa dominated the match, and
could have scored large number of goals without the bad luck and
finishing of Gilberto Dos Santos who scored once (27'), but
missed more than 5 goal scoring opportunities over the 90
minutes, On the other hand,
Ahley Saida showed a high level of
physical fitness, but they lacked the proper forward player who
benefits from the opportunities to score goal, as they only
managed to score once by Ikhaa Ahley defender Ali Badawi own
goal ('88).
Ikhaa Ahley now faces Al-Ansar, and the winner of Safa x Salam
Zgharta match, that took place later that day, in the Second
