Viceroy Cup 2001
Safa defeated Al-Ansar [1-0]
November 4, 2001

Safa made a good step toward advancing to the semi finals of Viceroy Cup 2001 after defeating Al-Ansar [1-0] in the match that took place on Sunday November 4, 2001 5:45 p.m., at Beirut Sports City Stadium.

Safa prevailed over the field, scored their goal early, and built their game based on this score, meanwhile, Safa finalized their formation that will play in the coming championship with Hisham Shleikh in the defense, Khodor Salameh in the midfield, and Ahmad Naamani in the forward as the main elements in the squad together with their friends El-Jurdi, Gerard, El-Miri, Youssef & Ali Mohammad.

Ahmad Naamani, and the right choice
to move from defense to offense.

On the other hand, Al-Ansar showed a less state of readiness, and a low level of coherence among the newly formed defense line composed of Rabih Esper, Ali Hassoun, Zouheir Murad, & Fadi Hallak. In the midfield, this line is still waiting for the come back of its leader David Nakid who didn't participate in the match yet due to a technical decision by the technical manager of the team Adnan Mikdashi. In the forward, this line lacks an attacker up to the expectations as neither Peter Prospar nor the young players Haitham Hallak, & Mohammad Jawad can carry the team upon their shoulders alone. This necessity shall be handled by the Team management in the coming few days to secure the third and last foreign player in the squad that would fill the gap.

The match goal was scored early on the 5th.minute with a strong header by Ahmad Naamani who hit the ball inside the target despite Ziad Assamad attempts to clear the ball.
