Viceroy Cup 2001
Tadamoun Sour defeated Nejmeh [2-0]  November 7, 2001

Tadamoun Sour qualified to the semi-finals of Viceroy Cup 2001 after defeating Nejmeh [2-0] in the match that took place on Wednesday November 7, 2001 5:45 p.m., Beirut Sports City Stadium.

Tadamoun made a praise worthy victory over Nejmeh, and polished the blurred image the team appeared in during the Shabab Sahel match on last Saturday. Tadamoun appeared rather in good shape, with organized defense line led by the expert Korken Inkebarian, and the midfield line witnessing a good effort from Nasrat El-Jamal who might walking on the track of Rida Antar, moved to Hamburg FC of Germany last summer to be the first Lebanese player in the Bundesliga. Tadamoun scored an early goal on the 9th. minute by Haitham Zein after a 1-2 with Nasrat El-Jamal that made him face Nejmeh goal keeper, and implanted the ball in the net.

Tadamoun players celebrating
a deserved victory

On their side, Nejmeh team tried to re-enter into the match after the early and unexpected goal, but the technical staff calculations were up to something else, 4 players were out of the formation Mohammad Halaweh, Zein El-Abedin Saad, Yahia Hashem, & Abbas Shahrour, the scorer of the 2 goals during the last match against Shabab Sahel suggesting an intended plan not to exhaust the whole team having already secured the qualification to the semi finals. For a while, this appeared to be logical; However, the eye witness of the match can see that even the other players were not up to the match events, and appeared in very bad shape. This was clearly translated in the way Sunday Oko converted Nasrat El-Jamal cross on the 58th. minute inside his own target to offer Tadamoun Sour their second goal, and to trigger the shouts of complaints at the thousands of Nejmeh fans who felt angry at the The situation at their favorite team. Nejmeh management and technical staff should add some strength points to the squad in midfield, and forward, and look for the weak points if they were still intending to bid for the Viceroy Cup title in the short term, and the championship afterward.
