Faisal Antar was chosen as
the MVP of Viceroy Cup 2001.
This choice came within the celebration that took place on
Wednesday night November 21, 2001 at Royal Plaza hotel, Maya
Hall, Beirut
with the presence of General Director of Sports & Youth Zaid
Khiami, the president of LFA Hashem Haidar, the general
secretary Baheej Abou Hamzeh, the LFA committee members, the
chairman of board of directors of Sports City Nohad Orfali, the
president of Nejmeh Club Omar Ghandour, the vice president of
Tadamoun Sour Club Shareef Wehbeh, representatives of clubs,
and medias figures.
LFA president Haidar made a speech, congratulated Nejmeh for
achieving the First place, and Tadamoun for the Second place,
and added that the Viceroy Cup for the Elite is the First
accomplishment of the new Federation, and "For our good luck it
turned to be a huge success..". Mr. Haidar assured on the
principles announced previously by the LFA committee to take an
equal distance of all sides, and handle the tournament matches
with objectivity.
Later, general secretary Abou Hamzeh announced the result of
Faisal Antar achievement of the Most Valuable Player of the
tournament after a fierce competition from his teammate Nasrat
El-Jamal. In addition, the event included delivering the trophies, shields,
Cups, & money prizes to the winning teams: Nejmeh for the first
place [received by Team captain Jamal El-Hajj], Tadamoun Sour
for the Second place [received by Vice president Shareef
Wehbeh], Al-Ansar for the Third place [received by Assistant
coach Ibrahim Ezzo], Safa for the Fourth place [received by
Haitham Shaaban], Ikhaa Ahley money prize [received by Adel
Baz], & Shabab Sahel money prize [received by Toufik Mezher].
The tournament Top scorer trophy was delivered to Haitham Zein &
Terro Kehian [3 goals each]. The celebration was later followed by an
Iftar.
