December 9, 2001
Nejmeh defeated Al-Ahed [3-2] in the friendly match that took
place on Sunday December 9, 2001 at 8:15 p.m., Beirut sports
city stadium. The match goals were scored by Youssef Jawhari
[11', 57'] for Al-Ahed, Alein Nicolas [14'], Abbas Shahrour
[43'], & Bilal Fleifel [91'] for Nejmeh.
The match came as a major view on the readiness of both teams
players 1 week before the start of the championship. Nejmeh, the
winner, appeared in modest shape, and lacked the coherence among
its lines while Al-Ahed appeared in good shape, and made large
efforts over their opponents area with excellent performance
from their new Nigerian player David Amayni. Errol McFarlane,
the long waited attacker of Nejmeh, finally came back, reflected
its good reputation, and provided Nejmeh fans with some of its
trademark moves on the pitch that promise more to come soon. In
general, both teams tried their players, but the real exam is in
the championship, and the first stage that starts on next Sunday
with Al-Ahed facing Bourj, and Monday with Nejmeh facing
Sagesse.
