Chaaban to play for Farnborough

The Lebanese English-born player Ali Chaaban moved to Farnborough Town of the Conference Division in England where the signing of the 21-year-old player will be a great boost for Lebanese football.

If Ali will turn into a professional player, then he will follow the footsteps of Roda Antar; the first Lebanese professional player who signed for the Bundesliga side Hamburg SV last year.

Ali Chaaban is expected to play for the Lebanese Olympic team in the final round of the Asian Qualifiers for Athens 2004 Olympic Games. He will try to help the team to reach the Olympic Games for the first time ever mainly because he scored 24 goals for his previous club Leatherhead FC of the Ryman League Division Two.

With the signing of "The Scoring Machine" as Ali is called, and with more Lebanese players to play in Europe in the near future, Lebanon will surely have a great football level comparing to other Asian countries.
