The Fourth Journalists' football Tournament, Salam qualify to the semi final

The Lebanese team Salam Zgharta qualified to the semi final of the fourth Journalists' football tournament which is held in Aleppo after a 1-0 victory over Jazirah (Jordan) yesterday; 14-07-2003, thanks to a solitary goal by Rami Hassan from the penalty spot.

The match was a one way traffic where Salam outclassed their rivals and their coach - Hussein Afash - managed to steer the players to the win.

The team played a good match thanks to the new signing the Syrian defender, Khaled Aryan in addition to the midfield headed by Abd Fatah Samad and Muhsen Nasif who was selected as the MVP of the game.

The winner came at the 35th minute of the first half when Rami Hassan scored from the spot after a hand-ball on a Jordanese defender for the strike of Mustafa Batal.

At the second half, Jazirah's players were determined to equalize, but their efforts were blocked by the Lebanese keeper George Sadek who saved several Jordanese attempts to score. Nothing much happened at this half and the game finished with a good result for the Lebanese team.

Note that the semi final matches will be played today where Salam meet Tersana from Egypt at 5:00 p.m. while Hurriya will take on Ittihad at 7:00 p.m.
