Championship 2002-2003 Golden & Relegation Square Round 2

The Second round of the Relegation Square a win for Ikhaa and Mabarrah

Two unimportant matches - which didn't affect the standing in the Relegation Zone - were held last Sunday; 22-06-2003. The first was at the Sports City Stadium between Bourj and Mabarrah where the latter managed to crush their opponnents 6-0. The second match was held at Jounie Municipality Stadium where Ikhaa won over Salam 2-1.

Mabarrah vs. Bourj (6-0) 

Mabbarah crushed Bourj 6-0 in the match which was held at the Sports City Stadium with the presence of few spectators. (First half: 4-0)

Mabarrah's players controlled the field starting from the kick-off and they managed to play as they wanted mainly because Bourj played with a youth formation who managed to threaten Mabarrah's goalkeeper Naser el Masri who managed to save all these threats in addition to Fadel el Sayed's ball which was saved by the post. 

   As for the goals, Ali Dabous openned the score sheet at the 11th minute when he got the ball from Madio Konati and he played a volley to score the openner. After three minutes, Dabous scored the second goal for Mabarrah after he followed a free kick played by Jihad Sweidan. The third goal came at the 17th minute when Hassan Nasr-Allah was in a one-on-one dual with the keeper and he managed to score. Two minutes before the end of the first half, Madio Konati passes to Ahmed Taha who unleash a powerful shot 20 meters of the goal to score the fourth goal for his team. At the 58th minute, Ali Ahmed takes advantage of a cross to score the fifth goal after he passed through the keeper and scored in the empty goal. At the 87th minute, Ali Haidar scored the sixth and the last goal for Mabarrah when he managed to shoot outside the area where the keeper failed to handle it and the ball continued to the goal to declare the closure of the score sheet. 

Mohammad el Mawla refereed the match and he was assissted by Samer el Masri and Ahmed Kawas.


Ikhaa vs. Salam (2-1) 

At Jounie Municipality Stadium Ikhaa achieved a 2-1 victory over Salam. (First half 1-1). 

In such a regular and unimportant match, both teams playing without excerting any effort except for the three goals mainly because there was no fighting spirit in all the players because the battle was over in the relegation zone. Salam took the lead at the 30th minute after Abd el Fatah abd el Samad sent a long ball towards Pierre Boya who broke through the defence and shot the ball into the goal before Ikhaa's keeper could make the move. Ten minutes later, Ikhaa equalized when Luis Trantik headed a ball on the left side of Ali Ibrahim's goal. Then Trantik scored the winner for Ikhaa at the 55th minute after he sent a stunner that hit the right post and entered the goal to declare the second goal for Ikhaa. 

The match was refereed by Mohammad Mansour and he was assissted by Ali Uday and Zakaria el Abed.


Olympic Beirut are Lebanon's Champions 

Olympic Beirut made a historical achievement yesterday for the first time in its history since its arrival to the first division last year. The team claimed their first Lebanese Championship after its 0-0 draw with Ahed. Therefore Olympic are now 4 points ahead of its closest contenders; Nejmeh who won 1-0 in the old-rivals' clash with Ansar. Olympic managed to get the title after the great effort of the management and the players who crowned their effort with the title and with their debut among the big clubs.

Olympic vs. Ahed (0-0)

At the Beirut Municipality Stadium Olympic drew with Ahed in a goalless and normal match especially at the first half with equal chances for both teams. The best chance was for Mohammad Kassas at the 19th minute when his header was cleared from the touch line by Ghulam Ghaader. Ali el Attar missed in turn a great chance for Ahed after his powerful shot hit the bar.

At the second half, the tempo was quicker and there were alot of missing chances for both teams. At the 70th minute, Abbas Atwi's great shot was saved by Amino Ali before heading to the goal. Two minutes later, Silvio Costa missed a valuable chance to score when he played an easy ball above the goal while Ahed also missed two valuable chance. The first was at the 80th minute when Olympic's goalkeeper; Ahmed el Saker made a great save and cleard Ghulam Ghaader's masterful shot and the second when Uday el Attar played the ball without concentration above the bar.

 

Olympic: Ahmed el Saker, Marsillio Silva, Yussof Mohammed, Mohammed Rida, Husein Rida, Yussof Baalbaki, Nabil Baalbaki, Abbas Atwi, Husein Oleik, Mohammad Kassas and Silvio Costa (Edilson).

Nejmeh vs. Ansar (1-0) 

At the Sports City Stadium, the old-rivals' clash between Nejmeh and Ansar finished in favor of Nejmeh.

Nejmeh presented a big and quick game where they controlled the field through wings and one the crosses of Abbas Atwi found the header of Mohammad Ghaddar who scored the only goal of the match. On the other side, Ansar played a good game but their strikers failed to threat Nejmeh's keeper Haitham Badder except for some chances which Peter Prospar failed to finish, or the keeper saved without having the chance to score.



Nejmeh: Haitham Badder, Husein Daher, Mahmoud Karnib (Ranny Asaad), Mohammad Ibrahim, Khaled Hamiyeh, Abbas Atwi, Ahmed Kubeisi, Jilberto, Said Abboushi and Mohammad Ghaddar.

Ansar: Ziad el Samad, Mohammad Shahrour, Rabie' Esper, Sami el Choum (Hamza el Mazri), Haidar Abd el Razaq, Abbas Saleh, Malek Hassoun, Ahmed el Choum (Danny Nahleh), Mohammad Jawad, Shaddi el Shami and Peter Prospar.
