A great defensive Lebanese side gains a point and the qualification.

Lebanon drew Jordan to the point that gave the Lebanese side qualification to the second round of the Asian qualifications for Athens 2004. The match was an exciting one, with two goals for both sides in the first half and with an excellent defense for Lebanon in front of the massive attacks for the Jordanian side in the second.
Sublime goal:
The first half of the match witnessed a sublime goal by Abbas Atwi in the 14th minute when Khudor Najdi played a throw in to Abbas who broke through Jordan’s defense and stroke the ball to hit the goal declaring that Lebanon was on the right track to qualification.

Mr. Haidar: the final decision regarding the participation in the Arab Club Championship will be taken next Monday

The President of the Lebanese Football Federation confirmed that the final decision of the participation of Lebanon in the qualifications of the 4th group for the finals of the 2nd Arab Club championship will be taken next Monday in light of Mr. Georges Soulage’s report who represented Lebanon in the meetings of the Arab Football Federation’s secretary Generals in Cairo. more...

A “positive” point ahead of the National Olympic team to qualify.

The Lebanese Olympic Team went to Amman on Wednesday 16 April evening to meet his Jordanian rival on April 19th in the second leg match of the Asian qualifications for Athens 2004.
The first leg match – which was played on Saturday, April 5th on Beirut Municipality stadium – finished with a goalless draw. So, the Lebanese team has the advantage of winning or getting a positive draw in order to qualify, while a goalless draw means that both teams will have to play penalty kicks to determine who will qualify.

This match is within the extensive team’s preparation plan to meet the Jordanian team in Asian qualification for Athens 2004 at Amman-Jordan on the 19th of April.

Inclement Weather Puts Damper On Chaaban's Big Debut..

Ali Chaaban's dream shot of international football was ruined by weather. The leatherhead striker was called up by the Lebanese Olympic team to play in a friendly against Syria.
But torrential rain prevented a ball being kicked as two attempts to play the game failed. "I was gutted", said Chaaban, "I couldn't believe that both games were called off, I was fired up and ready to play."

Homentmen is back in the 1st division
Homentmen Beirut made his way to the 1st division to be among the Elite clubs after defeated Nahda Ber Elias 5-0 in their delayed match from the 17th round from the  Lebanese Football Championship for the 2nd division, Homenmen defeated Islah Borj El Shmali 2-1 on the match that took place on April 8, 2003 from the Round 22 of the Second division Championship . Lebanese Olympic National Team tied with Jordan Olympic Team 0-0 for the qualifications of Olympic games in Athena 2004.
A cold performance in a hot weather
Jordan frustrated Lebanon yesterday to grab an important draw on Lebanese soil and opened their Athens 2004 qualifying campaign in positive fashion. Despite this fact, both teams played a match of an average rating with the Lebanese Olympic team having the upper hand with an approximate ball possession of 49% while the Jordanian team had 35%.

Another meeting for the alliance of the clubs' supporters, to support the Lebanese Olympic Team

The organization which emerged from the alliance of the clubs' supporters called the clubs' attention to the meeting which will be held on Friday April 4, 2003 afternoon at 5:00 P.M at the L.F.A's headquarters, to study all the procedures which should be taken during next Saturday's match between the Lebanese Olympic team and his Jordanian rival.
The gathering called upon all the clubs' fans to attend the match and support the Lebanese players because they are Lebanon's representatives in this important event, especially that the match against Jordan is the first debut for a Lebanese team on his home ground since two years.
The gathering also hoped that the educational and the advertising institutions can participate in this national event to unite all the efforts in supporting the national team.
Another meeting was held yesterday's evening at Nejmeh's and Olympic Beirut's headquarters in Tarik Al Jadida by the special committees which were formed in the fields of reception, discipline and support. The committee had put the final touches on the procedures and the arrangements which will be taken to provide a suitable support for the national team next Saturday.
Note that the match's entrance fee will be free of charge so be there.

Roda Antar Suffers a debilitating injury.

Next Tuesday, Roda Antar will have a surgery after he picked an injury in his ankle and will be sidelined for three months.
Roda was ruled out of Hamburg SV for at least three months because of this injury. He played with HSV's amateur team two months ago as a starter in one of the matches and then played for 45 minutes
in another match. Since then, Roda couldn't play either for the first or the Amateure team because of this cursed injury.
This Injury setback had its major effect and Roda was released from the contract with HSV because after a three-month injury lay off, it will be the end of the season.

Guidelines for the rehabilitation of Nejmeh Club playground have been set

The “Ojeh Lebanon” has established the guidelines for the rehabilitation project of Nejmeh club’s playground at Manara.
A meeting to this end was held between the president of Nejmeh Club Mohammad Fanj  Mohib Itani and the architectures of “Ojeh
Lebanon “. They also discussed all the details with Mr. Baha’a Eddine Hariri who gave his direct instructions to  start the project after completing all legal procedures with the proper authorities.

A legation from Olympic Club visits the Literature College in the Lebanese University.
A legation from Olympic Beirut club made a visit to the Literature and Humanities College in the Lebanese University. The group of: Pierre Issa, Faisal Antar, Imad el Miri, and Silvio, in addition to the director Mr. Shafiq Taher held a meeting with the students about football especially the local sport here in Lebanon. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Taher invited everyone to support the Lebanese National Olympic Team in his match against his Jordanian rival next Saturday.

The Lebanese Olympic National team is having a camp in Tripoli preparing for the match against his Jordanian rival on Saturday.

The Lebanese Olympic National team started yesterday a camp in Tripoli, and this camp will last till the evening of next Friday as a preparation for the match against his Jordanian rival which will be played next Saturday at 08:30 PM on
Beirut Municipality stadium in the first leg of the Asian qualifications for Athens 2004.
The coach, Mr. Tardi will put his final touches on his special plan regarding that match during this camp. Note that the preparations have started months ago and it included two camps in Qatar and U.A.E, in addition to heavy trainings and a series of Friendlies played against local teams.
Mr. Tardi called 22 players for the camp and they are as follows:
Mohammad Santina, George Sadik, Abed el Karim Mansour, Hassan Mizher, Abbas Kina’an, Sami el Shoum, Khalil Ali, Khalid Hamie, Khuder Najdi, Ahmed el Shoum, Mohammad Shahrour, Yihya Hashem, Mahmoud Wihbe, Ali el Atat, Abbas Atwi, Agob Donabidian, Adham Ghaddar, Rony Azar, Hassan Nasr Allah, Paul Rustum, Husein Tahan, Hamza el Masri.
